Stopped in at random trying to find something to eat before the hike in East Trinity. Very pleasantly surprised! I had an excellent panini, salad and chili combo. Kept me going through the hike and the evening! The staff was great, and I loved the art space. Excellent atomosphere all in all.
My head almost exploded when we found a vegetarian spot in the woods of Newfoundland. So excited. When we arrived and saw them growing their own food, and serving top quality food, that was the cherry on top!Do note, this is not a cheap place to eat! It was very expensive, even for newfoundland. Prices here were 50% more than what they would be in Boston, MA, USA. Which also is an expensive place. It's worth it, to eat organic vegetarian food, just be prepared.Staff are awesome, and so nice.Baked goods are off the charts good.
Very cozy little coffee/tea shop with really delicious baked goods, like a huge salted caramel brownie. The drinks are great, but don't expect quick service here as it's quite busy, and if you sit down for service then those coming in for takeout after you will get served before you. Overall great spot for a stop and refreshing drink though, so I highly recommend you check it out.
Great place to stop for breakfast or lunch. The food is very well done. I had soup, salad, bread and a brownie (in separate visits) and all were excellent. You can tell they put great care and pride into everything. Please note that it's vegetarian only. That wasn't clear to me until I read the menu and couldn't find meat or eggs in anything.
I was excited to try Two Whales as I've driven past it numerous times while visiting Newfoundland. I made it in last week for the first time and was a little disappointed all due to the customer service (or lack thereof) The young lady serving me (take out order) was cold and unfriendly. She could not muster a smile in greeting (so unlike businesses in Newfoundland!) and when asked what she would recommend in terms of the pastries, she simply shrugged her shoulders. She prepared my order and simply plunked them down on the counter without an "enjoy" or "thank you for your business" (again so unlike the customary friendliness of this province). I observed her being curt with other customers as I meandered around looking at the art work. I purchased the book authored by the owners and in reading their lengthy and indepth Mission Statement, was surprised such behavior of staff would be tolerated. In speaking with my family from the area, I have heard my experience was not necessarily a one off. Others have also come away from this establishment feeling as though staff were judgemental or completely detached from providing customers with a pleasant experience. All that being said, despite disappointing and cool customer service, the food, latte and organic lemonade were quite delicious. I would recommend this place for the superb quality of food but would provide a warning that the staff interaction may be a little off putting. I will try Two Whales again on my next visit to Newfoundland with the hope it will be much more positive.
